Madame Red: Crossroads

I caved, I caved. Posting pictures of Madame Red (from Kuroshitsuji) early!

I love the composition of this shot - the side, and choice with the knife goes to a darkened, almost alleyway like area, whilst the other with no knife goes to a brighter place.

You can't see it in this picture, but all eight panels of the skirt have individual red seed beads sewn on at random and the several roses that make up my rose farm have several clear beads each. At least 24 hours was just spent beading that monster, and I watched far too many Red Dwarf reruns whilst doing so! All roses were hand made by me as well, there are at least 140 of them.

There are nine metres in the skirt (not counting said rose farm), and a petticoat and hoopskirt made by me worn underneath. My hips (pfff, what hips?) get red lines on them after wearing the skirt from the sheer weight of it - I think I'll investigate making some hip cushions before the con! The corset/bodice is fully boned (with plumber's coil instead of steel - I'm too thrifty for that! It has the same effect though, and it's always a relief to take it off haha.)

I'll be wearing this at Auckland Armageddon on the Monday, along with my (fake) kitchen knife~ I'm frustrated at that actually - in the anime Madam Red performs her murders with a scalpel being a doctor and all, but in the illustration that this is from I have a kitchen knife! Awesome.

Doing the make-up for this was really fun~ I've never had bright red lips before, and I think I've finally got the hang of putting on fake lashes! (Only took me a year...)
