Okay! So: Doujin Overload con review.

I had a load of fun and I am incredibly glad I went. The event set up in my opinion was exponentially better than last year: much more room to maneuver and it was nice to see that there was a proper stage.
(Speaking of the stage, the band performances were amazing the songs sounded just like they had popped out of the anime, and when Eternal Snow & the Nana song came on I had shivers running down my spine. Despite what I try to tell you, Im a shoujo fangirl at heart. So yes, kudos to the band!) Dances were also great with the dancers being absolutely adorable! >w< Good job guys: well see you again performing at the Cosplay Games at Auckgeddon!
On the Friday myself, ~
JVCA, ~
seraphik & Aura had a mini Clamp photoshoot at a local park here in Howick. :3 The Friday was great: we had everything! Cosplay, rock band (which unfortunately broke half way through... stupid faulty yellow drum), geeky Youtube videos, cake and BOARD GAMES. In the morning I managed to hand in my photography assignment (which I got excellence on: so pleased! >w< I honestly thought that I wouldnt get it). BUT YES. Friday = win: onto Saturday~!
Game plan was to get there for 11am but you know how these things go.

Was surprised to have the doors opened of our car by porters when we rocked up to the Hyatt: very swanky. They even carried our bags and directed us downstairs and complimented us on our costumes: the full deal!
I was amazed by the sheer amount of talent that the artists had Im envious of you guys! <3 Was very pleasing to see such a diverse range of styles as well. I would have loved to buy more than I did! Im not too sure on the rules for presenting art (as I know its restricted to just paper goods), but it would have been absolutely spiffy to perhaps see some framed pieces or things on canvas.
Didnt end up going to the Auckland Cosplay Ball: we had transport issues and were all pretty exhausted. Its amazing that one day took so much out of us, need to build up stamina for Auckgeddon!
Had a trip to the foodcourt next to the Aotea Square at lunchtime: that was nostalgic! With the move of Armageddon (which Im super excited for) eating in costume at that foodcourt will now be on very rare occasion. Sob. The sushi there is delicious and cheap. (Not to mention that the curious staff politely engage you in conversation and ask about how you dyed your eyebrows pink. Paint and glue people, paint and glue. Sounds gross but works wonders and washes out fine.)
Too soon the day was over & we walked off to Britomart with ~
vefalasiel and ~
jettwolfgang. (You two looked great in your winter uniforms & I hope to catch up with you again soon!)
Sunday was possibly my favourite day: folks from CNZ went to the Zoo! Jess and I wore our hoodies with our usernames on the back which came in handy. 8D Was spiffy talking to people outside of costumes and we had a run of photo/video imitations that I personally find hilarious.

And we also have the Dramatic Flamingo!
[link]Sadly the weekend then came to a close: I wish it could have kept going for a little longer. Ive probably missed things out of this review, but thank you to each and every one of you for making it epic and can't wait to see you all again soon!
DO & the meet-up was fuuun~
Wish I could of stayed longer at the zoo though.
It was nice meeting you and all the other CNZers. ^^
And DO was great! I loved it so much <3

Aura wins so hard at being the ultimate chameleon. The lizard not the Pokemon lol. It's pretty much a re-occuring theme that she'd some and say hi to me and I'm like "um hi who are y-OMG THAT'S ANGIE". Lucy's costume is SO VERY CLEVERLY THOUGHT OUT. She's someone that I always, always learn something from her every single time.
I don't think I noticed you, was far too busy bawwww. Your costume is dead awesome and I really wish I had a chance to properly run around and take pretty pictures.
DO in many ways lived up to its name. Overloaded, but man I'm happy to be on the receiving end!

And to anyone who would wonder aloud whether playing these games makes one violent, I say "Fuck off or I'll gib you with my railgun." - Christopher Brookmyre's thoughts on video games.
Yes, both Aura & Lucy are absolutely amazing! They really help to push the costuming/anime fandom along here in NZ.
hehe, thank you! Yeah, I'm disappointed that I didn't manage to bump into you either - as you say it was so hectic, and that's without me having a table.
Yes, I'm very happy with DO this year as well, and it's got me even more excited for Auckland. >w<
